1. Sleep Testing
Testing consists of a pre-test consult with a sleep physician, a lab or home sleep study, and a consult to review results. We can coordinate this for you.
2. CONSUltation
Once diagnosed, Dr. Tracy Eckles will see you for a consult to further review results and to evaluate if you are a good candidate for an oral appliance.
3. Exam and scans
Next we perform a detailed head and neck exam, scan or impress your teeth and jaws, take some additional records, and select the best device for you.
4. Fabrication
We custom design and order your device from an FDA approved lab. We usually have it ready for you in about 4 weeks.

5. device delivery
We see you in our office for device delivery, which varies based on each device. We review how to adjust your device settings at home.
6. titration
We regularly check in via call, text, or email. These follow-ups help us help you find your target device setting that improves your symptoms.
7. follow-up Sleep test
We see you for a follow-up exam and send you home with an unofficial home test to verify results, then refer you back to your doctor for official testing.
8. Annual recall
Apnea worsens with age, so follow-up is important. We follow up annually to keep a pulse on how you are doing and address any changes needing attention.
Three Ways to Treat
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
Oral Appliance Therapy
Oral appliance therapy (which we provide at Sleep Tight Tallahassee) uses a mouthpiece to temporarily adjust the lower jaw and tongue position. This opens the airway to allow unobstructed breathing.
OAT is also a go-to treatment for snoring, which is often a sign of sleep apnea.
CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)
A CPAP (or its cousins the APAP or Bi-PAP) uses a stream of pressurized room air to dislodge the tongue and dilate the airway. While effective, even motivated patients struggle to sleep well with a mask and hose.
Surgical Options
Various forms of surgery are used to treat apnea. Some involve removing tissue that blocks the airway in sleep, and some stimulate a nerve to the tongue to move it when collapses into the airway. Often oral appliance therapy, CPAP therapy, or both are required to be attempted as a first line of treatment before insurance will cover surgical options.
You're tired.
We get it.
We can help.
How long has it been since you slept like this?
At Sleep Tight Tallahassee, our goal is to get you sleeping like a baby again. And to get you back to having the energy of a child -- goodness knows we all wonder where that energy comes from! Improving sleep slows progression and improves a myriad of health conditions, too many to list.
Whether it's apnea threatening your life, facial pain ruining your days, or habits that you may not know are affecting your sleep, we're here to help.
The Fam
From Dr. Tracy M. Eckles
There is nothing more fulfilling than a patient telling me about waking up refreshed for the first time in years or about a health condition that is improving as a result of something other than medication.
Improving breathing with sleep apnea treatment results in both.
After years of practice as a general dentist, I made a conscious pivot into the world of airway -- educating healthcare professionals and patients on the signs and symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea, and treating patients accordingly. Poor sleep robs us of energy in our daily lives, wreaks havoc on our overall health, and ultimately steals years from our lives. The good news is, there are options, and we can help. BUT, unless the word is spread for how to identify that there is a problem occurring while we are least aware - while we sleep - most will never even know to seek treatment.
We’re going to change that.
So if you are tired, wake up often to use the bathroom or wake up gasping, or if you snore, or feel sleepy behind the wheel, or if you chalk your fatigue up to kids or menopause or long work hours, or if you simply feel like you don't get the benefit of the hours of sleep you put in at night, call me. Let's figure it out together.
See you soon, and Sleep Tight!
Imagine waking up refreshed.
Too many of us can't remember what that feels like.
At Sleep Tight Tallahassee,
we can help you get there.
Call or text (850)987-5337 to get on your way today.
